Micah’s Backpack
Feeding Our Future, One Child at a Time
At Micah’s Backpack Jacksonville, the mission is simple but powerful: to feed food-insecure children on the weekends. These are students identified by school counselors and teachers as consistently arriving at school hungry—often with lunch on Friday being their last meal until Monday morning breakfast.
St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church is proud to partner with Highlands Presbyterian Church moving forward to help pack food bags this school year. Together, we’re making sure that children in our community don’t go hungry over the weekend. Packing dates and times will be added to the St. Matthew’s calendar—keep an eye out for opportunities to serve.
This is a grassroots, volunteer-powered effort, and every role matters. From donations to packing, your support goes straight to the children who need it most. Every dollar given is used 100% toward food purchases, sourced locally to fill weekend backpacks with nutritious, child-friendly items.
Just $240 feeds one child for the entire school year.
We invite you to step into this ministry with us—whether by giving, packing, praying, or spreading the word. Let’s show up for the next generation in a tangible way.
Because when we feed a child, we nourish hope.
